Evernorth XRP Treasury Advances: Crypto Market Update, 29 August 2026
By Jodez · Market Update · 2026-08-29
Evernorth's XRP treasury plan cleared a key regulatory hurdle on Friday when the SEC declared its Form S-4 registration statement effective. The deal still needs shareholder approval on September 30, along with customary closing conditions and a Nasdaq listing, before Evernorth can trade under the ticker XRPN.
This matters because it would create a listed-equity vehicle that runs an actively managed XRP treasury, backed by Ripple, Arrington Capital, SBI Group, Pantera Capital, Kraken, and GSR. If approved, it could drive recurring institutional demand for XRP through lending, liquidity provision, and ecosystem activity. Failure or delay would likely unwind the treasury-premium trade quickly.
ETF Streak Hits Eight Days, August Tops $3B
U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs extended their inflow streak to eight straight trading days, with August net inflows now above $3 billion. BlackRock's IBIT led Tuesday's $314.37 million haul with $284.42 million, more than 90% of the daily total. Ether ETFs added $179.80 million, led by ETHA at $146.44 million, while Solana, XRP, and HYPE ETFs combined for $63.63 million.
Bitcoin ETF net assets now sit at $99.05 billion, just shy of the $100 billion mark. The sustained institutional bid is the primary catalyst for the recent rally, and the concentration in IBIT and FBTC is a vulnerability if creations slow.
Sticky PCE Pressures Fed Path
The BEA's July PCE price index rose 0.2% month over month and 3.7% year over year, keeping inflation well above the Fed's 2% target. Core PCE also rose 0.2%, and the personal saving rate came in at 3.0%.
Bitcoin slipped after trading above $81,000 earlier in the week, sitting around $77,600 by Wednesday morning. Sticky inflation reinforces a higher-for-longer rates setup into the September FOMC meeting, a near-term headwind for duration-sensitive assets like crypto.
The move has been modest rather than disorderly so far, but reduced rate-cut odds can pressure liquidity and favor choppy downside until payrolls and Fed communication reset expectations.
Majors Mixed on Flow vs. Macro
Over the last three days, SOL is the only major in the green, up 1.37% to $103.44. BTC is down 1.81% at $77,560.90, ETH is off 2.84% at $2,434.70, and BNB, XRP, and DOGE are all lower, with DOGE down 3.66%.
The divergence reflects strong ETF inflows and short liquidations against macro headwinds. BTC's move toward the $81,000-$86,000 range coincided with $1.37 billion in short liquidations, $2.23 billion of ETF inflows, and an 11% decline in futures open interest, suggesting spot-led momentum rather than leveraged positioning.
Our scanners flagged SKY, SKR, GRAM, and DEXE with bullish new-long bias, while MRVL, ARIA, and BICO showed bearish shorts building. MSFT is coiling with volatility expected.
Custody Rules and Prediction Market Fights
The SEC sent proposed amendments to custody rules for investment advisers and investment companies to the White House for review on August 25. The rule would address how advisers and funds hold client assets, including crypto, but the proposal isn't public yet and must return to the SEC before any vote.
Clearer custody rules would lower operational friction for institutional allocators, a constructive development for BTC, ETH, and liquid majors over a multi-week horizon.
On the flip side, Connecticut sued Kalshi on August 26, seeking an injunction to block sports-related event contracts it says are unlicensed sports wagers. This follows a December cease-and-desist order, a denied preliminary injunction, and an appeal to the Second Circuit. State-level enforcement adds fragmentation risk for prediction-market venues and compresses liquidity in Kalshi's U.S. sports contracts.
Community Wins: Algos and Members
The Momentum Algo closed a SPCX long at +2.0R. Solid, steady work from the system.
Member 1goldenboyy caught a TUT short for +145.6% with a 3.10 R:R, running 10x leverage for 8h 52m. yakurs14 took a WTICO short for +58.8% at 15x, holding for over seven days. ahmad718 shorted GBPUSD for +8.8% at 30x in just over six hours, banking a 5.28 R:R.
These are retrospective wins, not signals. The variety is worth noting: crypto, commodities, and FX all produced quality setups this window.
What to Watch
Next week brings August jobs data and a Warsh speech, alongside a $6.09 billion BTC options expiry. The BTC put/call ratio has risen to 1.03, and historical post-FOMC hourly volatility is materially higher. Direction likely depends on yields, the dollar, and settlement hedging.
Keep an eye on whether the ETF inflow streak holds. A break in creations could trigger a flow-led fade, especially with ETH up 31.3% versus BTC's 23.6% over the cited period. Solana's DEX volume acceleration is constructive, but it's increasingly dependent on speculative activity.
