The 15-Minute Pre-Market Routine for Perp Traders.
By CryptoTraders · Strategy · 2026-10-03
Equity traders get an opening bell and a forced routine. Crypto traders get an endless market and no structure at all, which is why so many drift into their day reacting to whatever the feed shows them first. The fix is a self-imposed open: fifteen minutes, same checklist, before the first trade. Not because ritual is magic, but because a trader who frames the day trades the plan, and a trader who skips it trades their impulses.
Minutes one to five: what happened
Start with the tape you slept through. Where are BTC and ETH relative to yesterday's close and yesterday's high and low? Did any level you marked get swept overnight? Then the two derivatives vitals: funding, to see which side is paying and how badly, and open interest, to see whether positioning built or flushed while you were away. Five minutes here tells you whether you are waking up into continuation, reversal, or chop.
Minutes six to ten: what is scheduled
Check the macro calendar next, because the day's biggest candle is usually scheduled in advance. CPI, FOMC, payrolls, and their timestamps decide when not to have a position on. Then scan the news for anything structural: an exchange incident, a regulatory headline, a large unlock. The point is not to form an opinion on everything. It is to know the timestamps where volatility is pre-booked and the stories big enough to override your technicals.
Minutes eleven to fifteen: what you will do
Now the only part that involves you. Mark the two or three levels you would actually trade today, decide which setups you are hunting at each, and write the one-line plan: what you want to see, what you will do if you see it, and what invalidates it. Then set alerts at your levels and close the charts. The plan written before the session is the version of you worth listening to. The version mid-session, watching a green candle, is not.
Where the Digest and the Brief fit
The first ten minutes of that routine is exactly what we compress into two feeds. The Daily Crypto Digest is the morning briefing: prices, sentiment, ETF flows, the macro calendar, key stories, and an analyst take, delivered before you have finished the coffee. The Crypto Intel Brief layers on the alpha: the day's high-signal developments, categorised and tiered by significance, with the impacted tokens named. Read both, and minutes one through ten are done for you. That leaves the five minutes only you can do: the levels, the plan, the discipline to follow it.
